Looking for a Fingertip Pulse Oximeter Instead?

Let me tell you about the Wellue O2Ring – it’s like the superhero of pulse oximeters, seriously!

One of the coolest things about it is that it doesn’t just clip onto your finger like your average oximeter.

Wellue O2ring

Nope, it’s a smart ring that you wear on your finger, making it super comfortable and convenient. You won’t even feel like you’re wearing anything special, yet it’s working its magic behind the scenes.

What sets the Wellue O2Ring apart from the pack is its continuous monitoring feature.

Most pulse oximeters just give you a snapshot of your oxygen saturation and heart rate, but this bad boy keeps tabs on your levels around the clock.

Whether you’re chilling on the couch, out for a jog, or catching those Z’s, it’s right there with you, providing real-time data.

Oh, and speaking of data, this thing doesn’t just show you numbers – it visualizes your trends over time too.

Imagine having a personal health diary that tells you when you’re acing life and when you might need to take it easy. It’s like having a health-conscious buddy right on your finger!

If you’re already itching to get your hands on the Wellue O2Ring (or, well, your finger in this case), I’ve got you covered.

How Polar H10 Chest Pulse Oximeter works?

It is very simple to describe the principle of operation of a chest heart rate monitor, it looks as follows:

Our heart contracts due to electrical impulses. Using the electrodes on the chest strap, the heart rate monitor records these pulses and converts them into heart rate information.

After, it transmits this data over wireless communication channels to a compatible device. This can be a smartphone, smart watch, tablet, bike computer, treadmill, etc.

POLAR H10 Chest Pulse Oximeter

Polar H10 Chest Pulse Oximeter is attached to the chest under the pectoral muscles in the solar plexus area.

This arrangement is due to the need to be close to the heart, where the electrical impulses are as clear as possible. There is an opinion that this is not very convenient, but nothing else has been invented yet. This is how all chest heart rate monitors fit.

Polar H10 looks like many other chest pulse oximeters. More precisely, all other heart rate monitors look like Polar H10.

It was the Finnish company POLAR that pioneered the wearable heart rate monitors and defined the appearance of the chest strap.

The H10 consists of two parts: a chest strap with electrodes and a heart rate belt. In a combat state, they are securely connected using two metal buttons.

Part 1: Cardiac Sensor

The sensor is made in a minimalist design of black reinforced polymer. Dimensions: length 65 mm, width 34 mm, height 9 mm. On the front side there is a glossy surface with the POLAR brand logo. On the reverse side, the plastic is matte.

There are no control buttons here of the functional elements, there are only two metal buttons for attaching to a strap and a battery compartment.

The buttons are recessed into the case as much as possible so that when using the sensor does not stand out much above the surface of the strap.

Part 2: Chest strap

The purpose of the strap is to hold the transducer and firmly press the electrodes against the surface of the chest to capture the electrical impulses of the heart.

At the same time, it should fit comfortably on the user’s chest and not cause inconvenience. Trust me, the Polar Pro strap has everything you need.

The base of the strap is made of elastic fabric material. It is soft and pleasant to the touch. The width of 3 cm allows him to sit comfortably on the chest, not rubbing or squeezing the skin.

There is a silicone knurling on the inner surface. Its purpose is to hold the belt and not allow it to slide to the lower back. This is a cool solution that saves you during cross-country, skiing and other workouts.

The clasp is made of black polymer, and despite its external flimsy, it snaps securely. Nearby is a metal frame, which is responsible for changing the size of the belt for individual adjustment for each user.

It can be tightened or loosened to achieve a level of comfortable tension in which the belt does not press down, but also presses the electrodes firmly against the chest.

Almost half of the inner surface of the strap is occupied by four electrodes. Thanks to such a large area, the heart rate monitor correctly records electrical impulses and is able to determine the heart rate even during intense training.

It should be noted that there are currently three sizes of Polar Pro chest straps in production:

  • XS-S – small from 61 to 73 cm.
  • M-XXL – standard from 73 to 106 cm.
  • XXXL – large from 77 to 136 cm.

Each size has a range of comfortable tension that must be considered when choosing. To do this, measure the circumference of the chest in the solar plexus area under the pectoral muscles. If the chest girth has a borderline value, for example 72-73 cm, then it is better to buy a small size.

Polar H10 compatibility with other devices

The compatibility of any heart rate monitor is determined by the wireless formats it supports.

According to this parameter, Polar H10 is the undisputed leader, since it supports 4 data transmission channels, which can work simultaneously.

You can transfer data in real time to 4 devices. These are the channels:

  • 2 Bluetooth Smart channels are the most common channel. Serves for transferring data to smartphones, tablets, watches, etc.H10 supports simultaneous connection of two Bluetooth devices, such as a smartphone and a watch.
  • ANT + is a channel focused on sports devices – watches and bike computers. In particular, it is actively promoted by Garmin, and almost all devices from this manufacturer are equipped with ANT +. This way you can connect your Polar H10 sensor to your Garmin sports watch.
  • GymLink is a data transfer format used in exercise equipment (treadmills, exercise bikes, etc.). The main difference of this channel is that it is encoded. It can be used in a gym where many similar equipment is located, while the signal will be clear and without interference.

Workouts with Polar H10 heart rate monitor

With Polar H10 Chest pulse oximeter you can do any kind of sport. It sits comfortably on the chest and does not chafe the skin. The only limitation will be your understanding of comfort.

If the fact that you have a strap on your chest makes you feel uncomfortable, then chest heart rate monitors are not yours. Look in the direction of the optical sensors, which are fixed on the shoulder or forearm.

Many are worried about whether it flies to the lower back during exercise?

The answer: the heart rate monitor strap is held on the chest due to the tension force, silicone knurling and rubberized electrodes that do not slip on wet skin.

Therefore, if you have chosen the correct size of the strap, moistened the electrodes, then the risk of the heart rate monitor slipping to the lower back is minimal.

The belt may slip in the following cases:

  • Swimming. If you are swimming in a pool or in open water, the sensor may fly off due to the density of the water. It will definitely fly off, at a high swimming speed – faster than 2 minutes per 100 meters.
  • Very intense and long cross-country and ski training. It happens that he slides a little due to active movements of the shoulder girdle. In such cases, you can simply correct it. This is not critical.Once again, I would like to note the multichannel H10, as it adds comfort to training. For example, while running on a treadmill, you can launch the Polar Beat app on your phone and start a workout. This will also show your heart rate on the treadmill monitor.

Polar H10 allows you to quite accurately determine the level of maximum oxygen consumption. Abbreviated – IPC or VO2max. This is the largest amount of oxygen, expressed in milliliters, that a person can consume within 1 minute.

The indicator is used to assess endurance in athletes, and also generally characterizes the current state of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems of the body.

The higher the VO2max value, the better. The average man aged 30-39 is 36-46. For athletes, the indicator can go up to 90. If you track your IPC over time, you will be able to assess progress and enjoy the results achieved.

The BMD test is very simple. Put on your heart rate monitor, lie down, relax, and run a fitness test in the Polar Beat app.

The Polar H10 heart rate monitor is a versatile heart rate monitoring tool. We recommend it for beginners who would only like to play sports with heart rate control.

Ease of use and reliability will allow you to take the first conscious steps in sports. With it, you turn your smartphone into a training computer.

For the advanced hobbyist, the Polar H10 will also come in handy as it provides accurate heart rate data during intense workouts.

During periods of recovery, it will help to assess the level of readiness of the body for the next load
